Seeing Beyond What The Eyes Can
by Maggie Delaney

I have great vision.
Although some trials and tribulations have been jarring,
my many treasures and triumphs have transformed me.
From birth I have had an injured left arm,
peripheral visual loss, and perceptual deficits.
Yet, I have never once allowed barriers, bumps, and roadblocks
to stall my life's journey.
I have devised methods for meeting daily challenges,
developed a sense of awareness for and about people with disabilities, and
recognized the significance of advocacy.
I do have vision.
I can see.
For this, I thank God.
