to inspire and encourage
Change is Possible with God at Your Side, Mirror Newspaper, Dec.  1, 2005, Vol. 2, Number 13
by Krystal Kuehn
“Change doesn’t come easy for most people.  Setting goals and moving forward in life requires determination and commitment.  With it you need faith that you can succeed in your plans, strengthen your relationships, overcome your weaknesses, develop your skills and overall improve your life.   The problem is that so many people talk themselves out of doing things that can better their lives.  They can be their own worst enemies.  Excuses abound and nothing ever seems to change.  And they end up feeling defeated and sorry for themselves.

If that sounds like you or someone you know, be encouraged.  Things can change and get better.  With God on your side, nothing is impossible.  You can fulfill your God-given potential if you will face the mountains in your way and not turn back.  You can live your life with purpose and meaning if you will get back up each time you fall and not give up.  There is so much for you to live for and accomplish.  It is never too late to start making changes and living your dreams.  The good news is you don’t have to do it all on your own.  God will provide the inner strength, direction and help you need.

Real change begins inside of you the moment you make a decision to change.  It is an act of your will.  You heard the expression, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”  No one can do it for you.  You have to want it for yourself.  If you do something because you feel forced the changes won’t be real, internal or lasting.  It can even lead to rebellion and anger.

No one ever said change is easy, but that doesn’t have to keep you from trying and believing.  You can do it.  You have all the strength, support and enabling power of God on your side.  He destined you to be victorious and successful.  So the next time you are tempted to doubt yourself, remember that God is able.  He can empower you to do things you never thought possible.  The next time you feel afraid and alone; remember that He is always with you and He will never leave you.  The next time you want to give up, remember that God believes in you and He wants to help you every step of the way.  And also remember this—when you find that you cannot do it on your own, it is then that true change begins.
